Corigin, an Ag Center Affiliate, has opened their Merced plant! Using a carbon negative process, Corigin unravels the structures in almond shells into a certified organic liquid plant growth enhancer, CoripholTM, to help farmers increase per acre profits and regenerate soils. It’s the ultimate closed-loop model. Field trials on multiple crops have delivered double-digit marketable yield increases even at half-fertilizer rates compared to the full-fert grower standard. Such a spread between increased marketable yield and reduced input costs suggests growers can dramatically increase net income per acre. Indoor/controlled environment ag trials have delivered 20-70% faster growth and higher sugar content in both soilless and container soil crops, resulting in faster crop turns and higher crop quality. Coriphol is comprised of numerous phenols, organic acids and other light weight biomolecules and is used as part of a baseline nutritional drip or foliar spray. Mike Woelk, CEO & Co-Founder of Corigin, gives us some tips on how adding Coriphol to your crops can drive more money to your bottom line!
1. CORIPHOL CAN DRIVE MORE REVENUE PER ACRE:
Coriphol is comprised of phenols and other organics produced exclusively from almond shells. Phenols are fascinating antioxidants and secondary metabolites that plants produce in response to abiotic and biotic stresses like nutrient imbalance, pathogens, pests, weeds, water deficiency, heat & frost. Using Coriphol in a drip nutrient program, independent trials have shown marketable yield improvements of 10% on head lettuce and up to 70% on carrots.
2. CORIPHOL CAN REDUCE YOUR OVERALL INPUT COSTS:
Once again, our field trials have shown that adding Coriphol and cutting fertilizer loads 25% to 50% can outperform the full-fertilizer grower standard. Moreover, because the cost of Coriphol is less than the reduced fertilizer costs, growers stand to decrease their overall nutrient expenses!
3. CORIPHOL CAN IMPROVE YOUR SUSTAINABILITY PROFILE:
Like it or not, there’s growing demand being placed on farmers from regulators and consumers to reduce carbon emissions, wastes and fertilizer use. People conveniently forget that farmers need to turn a profit too. Corigin helps on all accounts! Consider that roughly 80% of the plant mass produced in a field is waste material like husks, stovers, pits, trimmings and nutshells - not the marketable crop. So how are Corigin’s products so sustainable? Corigin’s technology converts farm waste, specifically almond shells, into high-value organic inputs. Reducing and valorizing crop waste is a big priority for the almond industry in particular. Moreover, our process is carbon negative, meaning that while all of the carbon in our products was in the atmosphere just a few months ago, most of that carbon is converted into biochar, which is stable for centuries as a soil amendment. That carbon is never going back into the atmosphere, so just using Corigin products helps permanently remove carbon from the atmosphere! And finally, our products can help growers reduce their fertilizer loads, which is a big win for the environment, without compromising their yield.
Corigin’s main goal has always been to help farmers improve yields and margins with organic solutions produced from farm wastes. Penny Newman Farm Products has taken the initiative to distribute Coriphol and blend it into their acclaimed product, Full Spectrum C+P, because they too see the magnitude of Coriphol’s effect! Both affiliate companies are proud to partner together to bring the best solutions to our farmers and growers.
